The raw material is the wool of a specific variety of sheep, known for its small size and great strength. Creating these rugs requires exceptional craftsmanship, passed down from generation to generation, as well as a great deal of patience. It takes 1 to 4 months—depending on the rug's size—to make each of these unique pieces. These rugs are woven in the Boujad region of Morocco. Their often bright and bold color palette is obtained from natural dyes extracted from local plants.
